Ben is a sweet, joyful 3-year-old from Wasaga, Ontario, whose laughter and light bring strength to everyone around him. In May 2024, Ben was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) after what began as a simple fever and ear infection quickly became life-threatening. The news was a devastating shock to his family and marked the start of an overwhelming and difficult journey.

Ben spent a month in the hospital as doctors worked to get his infection under control and begin treatment immediately. Since then, he has endured regular chemotherapy, port access surgeries, lumbar punctures, transfusions, and countless hospital visits—showing remarkable bravery through it all. Despite battling pneumonia and other setbacks, Ben continues to amaze his family with his strength and resilience.

His parents, Blair and Erin, have navigated this journey while raising three young children, including two older brothers and a baby sister born in November 2024. Ben’s father, a paramedic, had to take time off from shift work, while his mother, newly pregnant at the time of Ben’s diagnosis, carried the weight of worry for both her youngest son and her growing family.

The Charters family has faced immense challenges—long hospital stays, exhausting travel for treatments, and the stress of caring for three children while fighting cancer—but they continue to face it all with love, faith, and determination.

Through it all, Ben’s courage shines. His smile, his spirit, and his ability to find joy even in the hardest moments inspire everyone who meets him. While the road ahead includes more treatment and uncertainty, his family is unwavering in their hope and belief that Ben will grow stronger each day.

Ben is not only a leukemia warrior—he is a cherished son, a loving brother, and a beacon of resilience, teaching everyone around him the true meaning of courage and love.
